I'll be home for the holidays

Hello people!

I have officially earned ⅛ of a bachelor's degree and feel as though my brain has been put through a blender. Like, I remember seeing pictures of college students during finals and was like “Nah, that's probably just for the STEM people”. The facts behind that photo depicts everyone, but ESPECIALLY the STEM majors.

But I did it, passed my finals (including pulling through a B+ on my Business Infosystems, which lord knows was a miracle and a half), and made it home. This time the train only took a half-hour extra instead of the three hours last time. Upon my arrival home, I regressed into my previous self (and probably future self), and immediately put on my nightgown and slippers. I'm a night hat and cup of tea away from becoming the bear on the Sleepy Time Tea box.

I have been enjoying my time home so far though. I will say the retail service culture here is way different than in Chicago. I went to Bath and Body Works yesterday in search of a specific candle and was greeted 3 times by the workers. Nobody will greet you that much in the city unless they think you'll steal something. Besides that, I like the colder weather and the snow, it feels a lot more wintery than the temperature I left behind.

I will apologize for the shorter post but unless you guys want the deep details of sock knitting and spending an hour and a half winding yarn into balls, I’m a bit out of content.

However, to make up for this I will include some more photos than usual. I will also put the captions on this page as opposed to the caption that WIX provides me with a 200-character limit.

Merry Christmas!

Gretchen

SLIDESHOW:

Photo one: Sydney and I enjoying our time together in her room, featuring me drinking a Diet Coke, because I am turning into my mother.

Photo Two: Sydney, Bridget, and I. All at varying degrees of smilieyness.

Photo Three: An "I-spy" esc photo, center being a "Date Crn. Sanders" simulator, two Swedish dish towels being used as oven mitts, and a random roll of toilet paper. That's right, it was left there by some rando.

Photo four: Cookie decorating! It was however in the main honors dorm, (which in a story not shared on here had a fire last week cause some girl left a candle running under her lofted bed), and meant we had to walk over whereas everyone didn't have to leave their building.

Photos five and six: The TWO DIFFERENT wedding photos I witnessed being shot at Union Station, not seen, the 50 thousand kids running around in pajamas for the "Polar Express Experience".

Having now seen G re-enter society in mid-Michigan, I am impressed by her new "Chicago face" which she deploys whenever we leave the house. It is a combination of alert + annoyed, so as to convey to people in her orbit that she is 1) not playing, and 2) might be just a little bit nuts, a potent combo that will encourage people to not play. Also, her sisters have never been so happy to have her home (and so are her parents). Those floor-length flannel nightgowns weren't going to wear themselves.
