Girl on a train

Well after a restful week off, your faithful blogger doth return. In what can be described as a game of “How many books is Gretchen carrying at one time?” I have officially descended into the academic sludge of the two weeks + finals I must endure before being freed for the remaining weeks of 2023. Although I have been able to do a full 48 hours of committed work to my education, my spirits are already waning. My roommate started off my morning with an alarm going off at 5:45 AM, like, girl, for what? She doesn’t have class till noon and didn’t get up. Subsequently, after being awake, I slammed my pinky in my dresser drawer, separating me from my entire cuticle and bleeding through two band-aids all before 7. All that aside, I’ve had a decent morning, and being back in the city is nice.

To get some rapid-fire questions out of the way on what I did over break-

Q. How was your break?

A. Satisfactory, I went to the movies, saw some horses, and saw a whole bunch of you lovely people that read this.

Q. Was it nice being back in East Lansing?

A. Yes, I liked being able to drive everywhere and being able to get pretty much whatever I desired within a 15-minute time span.

Q. How was the train?

A. My train home was as many of you have heard, a portal into hell. I found out that all my muscles cramp in my hand after 5 hours of knitting, and that I can also listen to Fiona Apple for about 3 hours before I want to bang my head into a wall. The train home was fine though, I did get my coat unintentionally spit on by some rando on the red line, so wasn’t thrilled about that.

Well, that’s it for the Q&A section. The weather here has been a steep drop into winter, and although I am disappointed to not have my entire coat collection, my 4 here have been making rotations and all seem to do their job of keeping me warm.

Although I feel a tad bit sorry for not having a longer post today, I also according to Carmen “did absolutely nothing over break” so I’ll pin the reasoning to that and I’m also writing this to try and stave off writing my essay to accompany a final project. I have to connect medieval feminism to a hat, God help me.
